Even the pigs are optimistic or pessimistic

If a pig is an optimist by nature, it will be difficult to pull it down in the dumps; if it is a pessimistic type, its judgment on things it will be more influenced by the situations around him.

The results of a curious study published in Biology Letters confirm that the relationship between personality traits, mood of the moment and judgment of situations is not only human experience.

The man, as is known, processes the information in different ways depending on how you feel at a given time. If the mood is negative, it is easier to expect the worst of results from a potentially ambiguous situation (is what is called "cognitive bias", a sort of schema distortion that we use to interpret situations).

WHAT TYPE ARE YOU? A group of British researchers assessed the type of personality of 36 domestic pigs (Sus scrofa domesticus), animals known for their intelligence, separating them into proactive (ie more active and less flexible) and reactive (ie less active and more flexible): man, proactivity has been linked to an extroverted personality, responsiveness to the tendency to get nervous.

Then the animals were trained to recognize a bowl of treats or bitter pills based on the position he had in the room. At this point, some have been laid to rest in an "accommodation" spartan, others in a "deluxe" room, large and with a soft mattress on which to rest.

SOLID OR UNSTABLE. Pets considered optimistic, have proved inclined to seek rewards even in bowls in a location other than the learned, no matter where they slept. Those pessimists proved dependent on the environment: if they had stayed in deluxe accommodations, later seemed more sure of finding the loot in ambiguous bowls; those released from your Spartan proved rather more pessimistic in their judgments.
