
The Great Pyramid of Giza was built 4500 years ago and is the most impressive among those found on the Giza Plateau, Egypt. Today is one of the few wonders of the distant past that still can be observed. 146 meters high, resting on a square base with sides about 230 meters long. When it was built with limestone it was coated panels that were removed in the course of time to build other
monuments. The absence of the coating has prevented until now to obtain a precise measurement of the pyramid sides.
Now a group of researchers of the Glen Dash Foundation, a research body that uses the most advanced technological systems to solve some problems unsolved archaeological, published a study on Aeragram that enable you to solve this problem.
LITTLE ERROR. The study gave way to discover the east side of the pyramid originally measured between the 230.295 meters and 230.373 meters, while the west side was to extend between the 230.378 meters and 230.436 meters.
This means that there was a difference in the long sides of the square that could go from 8.3 to 14.1 cm.
AMAZING SKILLS. "Even if the error was the maximum that we calculated, the results show that the Egyptians possessed almost unbelievable skills for their time, so much so that today we can only speculate about how they could reach such precision only with the use of tools they had, "said Glen Dash, engineer in charge of the work.
WORK CONTINUES. To determine the length of the researchers Pyramid sides have gone from a few sheets of still existing coating and whose edges touch the platform on which was built the Pyramid itself. Then they tried carefully the "signs" that other "cover plates" on the left of the base platform. In total they found 84 points along the edges of the original pyramid.
With those results have a statistical method used to pull the baselines of the Pyramid coverage and have thus come to the dimensions of the base sides. The researchers will continue their research in hopes of making a backward path, ie from building measures to trace the tools and their use and thus have a better picture of how they work the engineers of that time.
